How to get a SAG voucher (Getting into the Actors Union)
After being asked several times, I explain once and for all HOW to obtain the three SAG vouchers needed to get into the actors union (Screen Actors Guild). Please pass along to all those who might be interested.
While the Israeli government claims it is ‘easing’ the illegal siege of Gaza, which has now entered its fourth year, the 1.5 million Palestinians living in the coastal enclave remain more impoverished than ever. Around 80% of them are dependent on some form of food aid according to UNRWA, as unemployment keeps soaring. Oxfam GB together with local partner Ma’an Centre for Development and World Food Programme funding have been providing food vouchers in the Gaza Strip in a bid to help some of the most vulnerable families maintain a nutritious diet on a daily basis while supporting small shops.

@johnmaxvan jus be there early. i’ve spoken to ppl who have gotten to movie sets early and were given sag vouchers. or if ur going to ask for 1. say ” if you happen to have a sag voucher, would u keep me in mind ? . play it coo

I am going to extras management on monday and planning to do it on regular basis for next 2 months. any suggestion ?
@johnmaxvan well i wasnt doin xtra wk on a regular but i signed up w/central cast in nov of 08 and got my 2 vouchers in may of 09 and last 1 in sept of 09

you can also buy them from some agencies. ask around(i didnt do this but if i was having trouble, i would consider it). Took me about 10 months of doing background work full time to get 3. A LOT of times the ADs will say to me “we loved you, you did great work today, want to recall you on a union voucher”. then nothing happens. dont give up!

Your chances of getting SAG Vouchers are on movies. They ask for around 50 something SAG background and TV asks for around 20. NOT all of those 50 show up, those 20 usually do.
Got 4 SAG vouchers in 06 and 2 AFTRA in 07. No money to join though haha.

I worked in Asia for many years and never had to deal with a union, which has its benefits of course, but you can get screwed just as easily without union protection…

didn’t understand what SAG was but now i might as get one
thanks for posting this. i jus received my 1st sag voucher. i was calld by central casting to be a standin for monk and im non union.
If you paid the SAG rate (and your voucher was marked as SAG), then that was a SAG voucher. Also keep your paystubs where you were paid as SAG; this will help SAG determine your SAG status quicker than the vouchers alone.
